The Food Ethics Council works with businesses to help find a way through the complex issues surrounding food and farming.

Our Business Forum provides an opportunity to learn about ethical questions around climate change, obesity and other core concerns for the food industry. Held bi-monthly at a top London restaurant, it is chaired by Food Ethics Council members. The guest speakers, who are leaders in their field, offer senior executives a unique opportunity to gain expert insights into the big issues of the day.

Membership is by invitation and places are limited. A subscription fee covers the cost of organising the seminars. The terms and conditions of membership have been designed to enable the Food Ethics Council to organise these educational events for business executives while preserving the Council's independence. For further information, please contact Lisa Unsworth.

We provide practical tools for use in business planning, including:

  • Ethics: a toolkit for food businesses, a resource that helps businesses tackle key ethical issues, introduces key ideas in ethics, and provides a framework for decision-making.
  • Ethics: a toolkit for Welsh organic businesses, and Moeseg: Pecyn cymorth i fusnesau organig Cymru, are short booklets commissioned by the Organic Centre Wales to help Welsh organic businesses tackle ethical issues that affect their bottom line.
  • The Future scenarios for the UK food system toolkit, designed to help organisations plan for the uncertain future of the UK’s food system
  • A research directory listing consultants who can help with work on ethical issues.

We undertake collaborative projects with businesses. Please contact Tom MacMillan if you would like to discuss potential project ideas.
