DR ALEXANDRA SEXTON

Assistant Professor in Human Geography at Durham University

Her research investigates the social and political economic impacts of new food technologies, with a focus on alternative approaches to conventional livestock production including plant-based and cellular agriculture. Alex’s explored the implications of these food technologies for rural landscapes and livelihoods in the UK. She has conducted expert advisory work for the UK Government and World Economic Forum, and been an invited speaker at international conferences and think tanks. She has previously held positions at the University of Oxford (‘Livestock, Environment and People’ (LEAP) project) and King’s College London (ESRC-funded doctoral studentship).

Her research interests include: ‘alternative’ food networks, food justice and security, the politics and ethics of food and agri-tech, just transitions, responsible innovation, geographies of food and sustainable consumption.
